FAQ

Urgent Care

For urgent care, we will try to see you the same day. Click the link to understand what is urgent.

Waiting Times

8.30am to 11am and 3pm to 5pm are the most popular times, so it's best to book ahead for these.  We do not double book, and we do attempt to run on time.   Urgent or complex patients may disrupt our schedule.

Fees:  Mixed Billing / Medicare Rebates / Bulk Billing

We are a mixed billing practice.

Most exams have a Medicare rebate and your optometrist will itemise your account.   Our staff will process your rebate (no need to go to a Medicare office) using the Easyclaim system to your registered bank account or using your EFTPOS card.

Some procedures will not have a Medicare rebate - we will itemise these on your account.

Some health funds provide rebates for some procedures.

Behavioural Optometry

Behavioural optometry is a wholistic approach to your eyecare.  Reflected in our motto, “we treat your eyes like there is a person attached”, it seeks to understand you and your vision as a person rather than as a simple system of muscles and nerves.

Vision is the ability to move and direct motion and derive meaning from the world using sight.

We learn skills such as accomodation, convergence, distance focus, near focus, sustained near focus, shifting vision from near to far, tracking, jump eye movements (letter to letter or word to word) to name a few !

Vision is complex and we are committed to helping find the best visual solutions for you.

Dr Malinda and Dr Ani are members of ACBO (https://www.acbo.org.au/) the Australasian College of Behavioural Optometrists

Ortho-K or Orthokeratology

This is a method of contact lens wear where the lens is worn while sleeping, and taken off while awake.  The lens makes an ‘imprint’ of your prescription on the eye’s surface, allowing you to see without glasses during the day.  Since the cornea is soft and malleable the lens is worn as a retainer each night.  Lens care happens at home and the ortho-k lenses stay at home.  Current research demonstrates this can provide a slowing down of myopia (‘myopia control’).  We fit ortho-k lenses. Contact us for a suitability check today!  If you are a new patient to the practice, we will see you for a regular eye exam first.
